Who am I? |
|
My name is Åsa Ohlsson and I have for some reason remained in Uppsala after my university education. Originally I’m from the south of Jönköping where I, before my biotechnologist education, worked at a animal hospital as a nurse for some years. I’ve always been interested in animas, who haven’t? But I had some suspicious thoughts about my old grandfathers dog as a small child. But the animals passing my home since then have been quite a few. We have had some problems with our German shepheards; hip dysplasia, allergies, spondylosis, inherriteble diseases to mention a few. At the moment my parents have an absolutely adorable and kind male called Beathalande’s Quogar. I think you’ll have to look hard to find a kinder dog than him. He even lets my parents’ cat play tug-of-war with his ears... The cats of the family moved in when I was in the age of starting school. Our first cat was a mix-breed, who one day didn’t come home anymore. After that my mother wanted indoorcats, it hurt too much not knowing what had happened to the first one. Therefore two Birman moved in, and those two got another company a few years later by Denize (S*Glowcoon’s Denize Design), a black silver MC tabby Maine Coon. When she moved in 1994 as a ten-week-old kitten she immediately showed our present German shepherd who was the boss. Our dog had previously chased the flyffy white cats as he’d liked, but was now told by a small grey-fluffy thingy that he was no longer the boss in this house. They were the best of friends after that... Denize turned 13 in August 2007 and she is the main reason that I’ve fell in love with the Maine Coons, it was therefore very sad to let her pass on just a few months later that year. She will be truly missed and I’ll probably always compare other Maine Coons to her. My first own Maine Coon is S*Operacoon’s Alfredo, from a breeder in Nacka just outside Stockholm. He is called Pillo and how I’d longed for him (well actually any cat at that moment, but it turned out that it was him I was waiting for) during my first two years in Uppsala when I wasn’t allowed to have animals in the appartment I rented. My second cat is the daughter of my Maine-Coon-Teddy-Bear-boy, she is called S*Ruskprickens Sacagawea. She has also been longed for for some time, since Pillo was picky about distributing his X-chromosomes (he liked the Y’s better I suppose). But I have waited for her for three years, and when she finally turned up it was as a breathtaking calico, I forgave Pillo then. One good thing about waiting so long for a female was that it gave me plenty of time to learn the breed and to decide what I wanted to focus on... |
